St Christopher's Church
Round Green, Luton
Statue of St Christopher
and foundation stone

The statue of St. Christopher outside the church between the west doors was presented by Captain Donaldson in memory of Christopher Reed.

Christopher had always planned to be a priest, and had completed his theological training, but sadly died of typhoid fever in December 1937.

The statue stands above the original foundation stone of the church. The now rather faded inscription reads as follows: -

AND IN HONOUR OF
ST CHRISTOPHER
PATRON SAINT OF CHILDREN
THIS FOUNDATION STONE OF
THE CHILDRENS CHURCH
WAS LAID BY LUMSDEN, BISHOP OF BEDFORD
